Open doors to education

IMAGINE giving meaning to middle and high school students. Your support helps teach what’s not taught in traditional schools - from daily habit creation to reflection and accountability. They don’t yet know what they CAN become. Elite academics meet executive functioning and life skills training at the MMB School

The Dante Benedetti Scholarship Fund

Honoring Bay Area Baseball Legends. Opening Doors for the Next Generation.

For decades, Dante Benedetti helped young athletes stay on the right path — using baseball as a classroom for discipline, accountability, and life.

Today, that legacy continues.

Through a partnership between Sevwins Prep and Dante's Boys Foundation, the Dante Benedetti Scholarship Fund will support 10 deserving student-athletes attending the MMB School, a new micro-school launching in Fall 2026 in Walnut Creek, California.

The campaign is working to raise $155,000 to provide scholarships that combine:

  • College-preparatory academics

  • Elite baseball development

  • Life and leadership training

  • Mentorship from experienced educators and coaches

The goal is simple: help motivated young athletes develop into successful students, teammates, and leaders

Scholarships Honoring Bay Area Baseball Leaders

The Dante Benedetti Scholarship Fund celebrates the legacy of Coach Benedetti and other Bay Area baseball and community leaders who have spent decades mentoring young athletes.

Scholarships will be awarded in the names of:

Nino Giarratano

Legendary coach and teacher who has impacted generations of Bay Area baseball players.

“He will always be ‘Coach’ to us — the epitome of a mentor and leader.” — Greg Moore

Gary Delagnes

Respected Bay Area mentor whose steady leadership and commitment to young athletes helped shape generations of players.

“Gary represents everything good about baseball people — loyalty, mentorship, and always putting the kids first.” — Jake Bond

Mike Delagnes

Known for investing countless hours helping young players develop confidence, discipline, and love for the game.

“As a founding member of Dante’s Boys, Mike has always been about helping players improve, believe in themselves, and enjoy the game.” — Evan Frederickson

Tom Lounibos

Community leader and supporter of youth development across the Bay Area.

“Few people have done more, and done it so quietly, as Tom. He’s been a difference-maker for decades.” — Ryan Sittauer

Kevin Cronin

Longtime baseball leader and advocate for youth mentorship and character development.

“Kevin is a pain in the butt, but he sure has done a lot of good.” — Reed Johnson

Together, these scholarships reflect a shared belief:

Baseball can shape lives when the right mentorship and opportunities are present.

The Students Your Donation Will Support

The Dante Benedetti Scholarship Fund exists for young athletes who have the drive, character, and passion to succeed — but need opportunity.

These examples represent the types of student-athletes your support will help.

Mateo – Martinez, CA (Age 13)

Mateo plays baseball every day after school at the local park. His father works construction and his mother works evenings at a restaurant. They have always supported his love of the game, but travel teams and private instruction are out of reach.

Mateo's teachers describe him as curious, disciplined, and a natural leader in the classroom.

At the MMB School, Mateo would receive:

  • Rigorous academics through ASU Prep Global

  • Daily baseball training and mentorship

  • Life skills development and leadership training

With the right environment, Mateo could grow into the kind of student-athlete Dante Benedetti believed in — someone who becomes a leader on and off the field.

Jordan – Antioch, CA (Age 14)

Jordan is a pitcher who studies the game constantly. He watches college baseball highlights and practices mechanics in the backyard every day.

His coach describes him as coachable and committed to improvement.

But his current school options do not provide the academic flexibility or baseball development needed to help him reach the next level.

At the MMB School, Jordan would have access to:

  • College-preparatory academics

  • Individualized pitching development

  • Strength and conditioning training

  • Recruiting mentorship

The structure and mentorship of the program could help Jordan pursue his goal of becoming a college student-athlete.

Luis – Concord, CA (Age 12)

Luis discovered baseball through a local youth league where his coach quickly noticed something special — his work ethic and positivity.

Luis is the type of teammate who encourages others and stays late to help clean up the field.

His family values education and baseball, but the rising cost of competitive development makes opportunities limited.

Through a Dante Benedetti Scholarship, Luis would gain access to a program that reinforces:

  • Discipline

  • Character

  • Accountability

  • Academic achievement

Just like the young players Dante mentored decades ago.

Carter – Pleasant Hill, CA (Age 13)

Carter loves baseball, but what his parents value most is how the game has helped him develop confidence and resilience.

After struggling early in middle school, baseball became the place where he learned to push through challenges.

The MMB School’s integrated academic and athletic structure would allow Carter to grow both as a student and athlete.

With the right mentorship, Carter can build habits that lead to college success and lifelong leadership.

Dominic – Vallejo, CA (Age 15)

Dominic is a powerful hitter with a natural feel for the game. His dream is to play college baseball and eventually return to coach younger players in his community.

His teachers say he thrives when he has structure and mentorship.

At the MMB School, Dominic would benefit from:

  • Academic success coaching

  • Individualized baseball development

  • Mental performance training

  • Recruiting guidance for college baseball

The scholarship program ensures that players like Dominic have the chance to pursue their goals.

The Next Generation of Dante’s Boys

Honoring Bay Area Baseball Legends. Opening Doors for the Next Generation.

Decades ago, Dante Benedetti helped young athletes grow into:

  • Teachers

  • Doctors

  • Police officers

  • Coaches

  • Business leaders

Today, Sevwins Prep and Dante’s Boys Foundation continue that tradition.

With your support, the Dante Benedetti Scholarship Fund will open doors for the next generation of student-athletes, leaders, and citizens.
