The Mission League

A volunteer-led league using baseball as the vehicle to teach competition, life skills and a winning mindset to players age 11-13. The Mission League began in 2025 when Bay Area dads looked for ways to play high-level baseball without the cost and travel time associated with weekly tournaments. So the league, headed by Reed Johnson, went to work. With a fixed season schedule and room for tournament weekends based on team fit, the league launched its inaugural season in the spring of 2025.

A tightly knit group of 6 teams expanded to 8 quality organizations in fall of 2025, creating a fall collective of scrimmages plus a competitive spring season. In the fall of 2026, the league begins its new roadmap for growth; a two-pronged approach to development. For players entering high school in the next academic year, a tailored field, strength and life-skill program prepares for the next level. Younger players access the same unique resources while continuing at their age-appropriate field distances. Every player learns to be teammates first, while owning their individual development.

What Coaches and Parents Say

“Development shouldn’t come with a premium price tag—our job is to keep the game accessible while delivering a high-quality experience for every player.” – Reed Johnson

“The coaches in the league emphasize playing the game the right way while respecting your opponent. It shines through in how each team competes and is fun to watch.” – Luke Cherry

“The Mission League is where the Bay Area's best young ball players meet preparation, humility, and an unwavering commitment to doing baseball and life the right way.” – Bob Saunders

Individual and Team Development
Part of learning to play is navigating the ups and downs of a season. Tournaments are dopamine. Seasons are muscle fiber for the player who sets goals, has mental skill awareness and knows how to reflect. Growth comes in the bounce back, the build, and in the most underrated skill in sports; Being an elite teammate.

The fall, spring and summer represent that development calendar.

Fall: Strength and conditioning, multiple positions played, skill work in and out of games.

Spring: Team 1st energy to each practice + games. Players drive individual and group development.

Summer: Tournament season is when families hit the road to enjoy a summer of baseball.
